[Resolved] Decompilers - my fla is corrupted, and I need the script back

I saved the game I was working on yesterday, and came back again to do some more work on it today. Flash can't open it any more... and I have no idea why.

There are various ways in which I can retrieve the artwork, and even a fairly recent version of the fla itself if I'm lucky. However, I'm the only one with an up-to-date copy of the script itself.

My question is this: do you know of any free/trial versions of decompilers that will be able to get back all of the script for me? Hell, even demos will do, as long as they can read the entire script.

I still have the swf file of the latest version of the game, and so does the guy I'm working with. I'm hoping to be able to restore it through this.

yeh but it puts it into a text document, my decompiler puts it into a flash file, so it would be just as you made it.

if you want i can decompile it for you and post the fla, but i suppose if its private work then maybe that wont work, but it would be no problem, just give me a link.

ps. if you are wondering i have the decompiler legit, its solely for this kind of purpose.

If our body is a clock ticking away and if while we experience all that this world has to offer time has still continued to pass, are we living or just experiencing a slow death?

I'd happily post the swf... I just need to wait for the co-author to come online on AIM to ask permission to send his file.

His website is: http://www.accessdeniednet.tk/ and the game is Wing Commander. I'll get back to you guys as soon as I can speak with him.

WOW. This is crazy. I sent it back to Kortex to see if he was able to run it, and he said it was fine. so naturally, I opened it myself... strangely enough, it was working again.

Thanks for your help guys... can a mod lock this topic or something?

Glad you got it sorted. Can I suggest that you always make more than one copy of your work in future? I sometimes have 5 or 6 copies of the same thing just in case.

I can store files on my watch. In future, I'll carry around backups of the game with me.
