Hi,
I've been working exporting a Flash movie as a QuickTime movie. For some reason, I get no sound when I export the Flash movie with the Export settings of my audio files set to MP3 compression (in the library, not in the QT Publish dialog tab). The movie seems to work correctly when I use ADPCM compression. I have not yet tried RAW format.
Anyone out there have a similar problem? What am I doing wrong? BTW, I'm running a Dell Win98 machine.
Thanks.

I have not published any QT movies yet
but it maybe that QT does not use mp3 and only uses
ADPCM or RAW
I guess we both should have a look at the Flash Help files
and read what it has to say about it.

hi,
well, i now know that QT supports MP3, because i can open and play MP3 files from my hard drive using QT. (incidentally, by chance i discovered that QT Pro will let you rip MP3's to WAV files). so that seems to rule out that possibility.i'll keep messing with it 'til i find something more out.

figured it out
in a way, you were right.
the answer is (according to Macromedia support):
"The root of the problem is the fact that Flash's export to Quicktime is a Quicktime movie with a Flash 3 formatted SWF. So the Flash 3 SWF export doesn't understand the mp3 audio compression."
so, even though QT4 itself supports MP3, the Flash part of it doesn't...ah-ha...so another question: do you know of a place where i could find a comparison of Flash 3 vs. Flash 4 export features, so that i could know what will work in QT and what won't?
many thanks again for your help,
peter

I am not sure...
You will have to do some good old searches on some search engines.
By the way who is the maker of QT?
Is it Apple?
-
yes, Apple makes QuickTime. I've been using QT Pro (the $30 version) which lets you add/edit video and audio tracks in any Quicktime movie. Too bad they don't support Flash 4 interactivity.

Not a Flash Kit Moderator The FlashDoctor
When you import a quicktime movie it does the same thing as Swiff Peg. It throws in another layer and imports it so that flash can understand it. Steve

steve, what is Swiff Peg and who makes it?
