Best book for beginner ?

Hi all....another newbie

I'm looking to buy a book for a beginner level and would like to know if anyone has any good recommendations ? nothing too advanced....I'm looking to learn how to make preloaders....make text effects...and a flash form along the lines of the one in the Challenge Us section of this site; http://www.herbalistsnipersquad.co.uk/

IMHO Colin Moock's books are the best choice for beginner.

Hi, thank you for the pointer. I have done a search and the only books of his that I have found are ActionScript. I am not too familiar with the scripting....but would they still be a good place to start ?

I got started on books from Derek Franklin. www.derekfranklin.com he explains things in a way that you can easily remember and grasp some of the more complex itmes as you go.
