Clean Picture

The site im working on has a white background, and I want a picture of me on the side, but the background from the picture to be gone, so that its just like the actual picture of me part. I know I am going to have some trouble accomplishing this properly, anyone know of any ways to make this a bit easier? Photo tricks, PS tricks, anything?

can't you just mask out the background in photoshop with a layer mask, fill the layer below it with white.

It's not hard at all.

I am kind of going for perfection, like if I do something gay like put a white sheet behind me, will that help at all?

Yes, it will. Don't take your picture infront of anything that isn't a solid color (like having the backround be the outdoors). You'll want a strong contrast. Most studio's prefer a "green screen," or green canvas (whatever you want to call it). This will help a lot because then you can go in with the color selection lasso (I know Corel has this, so I'm sure Adobe does too.). Also make sure you don't have direct lighting that's going to cast shadows on the backdrop.

For cleaning up the edges, I use an eraser brush with a opacity on the edges of around 20 or so. It's called either "soften" or something like that.

if you use a white sheet behind you, make sure your shadow isn't visible.

better off getting a photographer to take yo' picture.

You could take the photo with a black background, draw a marquee around yourself using the magnetic marquee tool, cut yourself out and paste onto a new layer. Clear the background to white (I think thats alt-backspace or ctrl-backspace after yout set the background palette to white), and use a strong "outter glow" using black to create a nice thick black border. Just throwing an idea at ya.
