minimum player version for flash video

what is the minimum flash player version (major and minor revisions) someone needs to have installed on their system to view a flash video file? thanks.

version 6,0,29,0 does not work.

6.0.29 will work, as will any version of Flash 6, but 6.0.72 is the preferred version - as there were some fixes that relate to video playback and caching in the later version.

thanks for the reply. interesting, what do you think might be the issue where i try to view my movie in a browser with the above mentioned player and i don't see anything at all? i can right click and see the flash menu but no image or player interface or anything.

Sounds like deeper issues, are you trying to stream an .flv or .swf file? Only Flash 7 supports .flv from http.

Flash video files can be either .swf or .flv - Flash 6 only supports the .swf, Flash 7 does both.

so an .flv will only play in player 7 and no version of player 6?
