Thread: Animated Rooms

    Animated Rooms

I had the idea to draw a mansion with many rooms. Each room having vector drawings and animations. Here is an example of one....

    http://www.palettemasters.com/FK/chandelier/

I don't know yet where to go with this idea......Open to suggestions! :-)

    That's really nice work.

    Here are my thoughts.
    - a fire in the fireplace.
    - some interactivity. click on piano and keys move, music starts....
    - other objects about... a chair in the far corner perhaps, books/bookshelf?
    - click on things and zoom in for more detail...

very nice scene to work with here.

Wonderful idea's Admedia! Are you up for a bit of a battle?
I did the work in SWiSH Max, but I think you also could import the SWF file into Flash and work on it. Anyway, here are the files if you feel up to trying your hand at some vector work and a bit of animation! I did animate the piano one time.... But I use a midi in the html file. But I am sure it could be done better.

I would be interested in seeing how the "zoom" Idea would work too!

    Hey, thank you Ms Pamela.

That is exactly how I envisioned the keys moving!

Yea, I would love to implement some ideas here! I might need a few days though to find the time to do it right.

I'll let you know when I have something.

So do you think we need to take this to The Arena?

hmmm... I am having problems with your file Ms. Pamela.

When I try and import it into Flash it tells me it doesn't recognize the .swf. I get a bunch of the objects as symbols, but not enough of the detail intact for me to work with.

I also tried importing to freehand and copy/paste but I only get the darker frame before the lights get switched on.

    sorry.

    anyone have any ideas?

    thanks.

I don't have any clues..... Should I try to export it as a Flash 4 or 5 instead of 6? Since I work stricktly with Swish Max, I don't know anything about Flash. I just assumed that since they had the same file extention they were compatable.

Here is the problem with a flash volley.
MsPamela and I use swish for vector creation.
ergo It makes for some difficulties.
While swish(max) handles import of swf with flash it's real rough going
granted you can get the shapes but not much else due to the difference between
    vendors and methodoliges.
It would be nice if either product had vector format output however niether do.

Perhaps it should run as vector arts only eg files must be emf/wmf
Would still have the capability to manipulate/add shapes
I've seen some more of MsPamela's work and she has some other really nice rooms
    as well.

So Mike, what program should we use that would enable everyone to access the volley? I think we are going to loose the animation capabilities ......... I can import any SWF file into Swish Max and it works fine. I thought it would be the same going the other way...obviously not, so how do we work around this? DARN I knew I should have worked harder on learning Flash!!! LOL!

yea, i can probably re-create the piano with these....
The other detail I wanted was the chandelier effect...

But no worries... I 'll just get busy and creative with what I have and return something by Monday. I hope that's not too long of a wait for you.

    Thanks.

No problem! I will work on the chandelier...... Give me about 30 mins or an hour to decompose it to pieces! :-)

Ok, I have it in parts but I also included some of the animation seperately so you could see how it was done... hopefully you can recreate it in Flash. Let me know if you need anything more. :-)

Thanks! I am really looking forward to Admedia's volley! I hope that we can figure out a way to get around this file issue! I was so looking forward to getting a volley going with animated vectors and getting lots of people involved.

That would be a great idea if we can resolove this issue with the file formats...... Unless there are enough people interested that are using Swish Max! Then we could do it this way! I think it would be great fun!
