Inserting Avis, mpegs, etc

How do I put a avi/mpeg movie clip on my site? When I try to copy a movie into the Flash "libray" folder, it doesn't show up when I open the common library folders. Also, when I try to import, it only allows me to import images.

Can someone point me in the right direction please?
