Grandfather to the stars
When I used to go to the forum it took 3 hits of the space bar to get down to the Coffee Lounge. Now it takes 4 hits. Progress? I think not.

Is there a way of getting a different view mode option that is more like the old style? It seems like its only little things that people are complaining about like the blue bar, the white space, the size of names, empty space and the style of a few other things.

There does seem to be a lot of complaining.
You'll all get used to it soon enough. Then, you'll start ranting about how rubbish the old one was and how happy you are with the new one.
Bunch of unappreciative little...

After waiting all this time for the upgrade to vb3, now we find out what everyone really wanted was vb2.

Well let's see, at about what time did you step back into the coffee lounge?

I will defend the board to the death!
Plus, it was the only thing close to clever 5th grade rhetoric that I could come up with.

Well so far I dont mind the changes at all.
I will say though that the increase in speed is not that noticable, yet.
The issue's with speed that I have are not with the software, but rather the routing, bandwidth and the server. weekends and evenings are ok, but FK is a heap O' steamin crappola before 11 am PST.
Host unreachable
time outs
page not found
Everything was fine two months ago, then I woke up one morning and it sucked. It's sucked ever since.
Planet, I will suggest this again:
Seeing as a vast majority of FK posts are out dated by todays flash and coding standards, why not take the current Flashkit and archive it for read only on a seperate server.
Start fresh with a clean database and this forum software update.
At some point the database is going to be to big to work well (or at all)for the ever increasing Flashkit members. It will have to be done at some point, why not now?
Just migrate all the members and any forums/posts that are less than a year old. Its a bit of work but it will also be a saving in bandwidth and user frustration. Why have a 3 million + entry DB when a vast majority of that can be considered Flotsam and Jetsam...

Strange, after wiewing(not making changes) to my user cp, my thread view prefs changed from linear to hybrid mode. Alos, in hybrid mode, are all my posts supposed to be missing when I view a thread?

i like it, nice and clean looking and easier to use
i miss the old one though, sniff..
just out of interest, what resolution is it designed for?
its a tiny bit big on 1024*768..
just a very minor criticism though..

I am running this on my old win 98 @ 800 x 600 and I am suprised at how good it looks on this res... everything scaled to fit nicely here.

No sure about hybrid mode, I never used it. It's aimed at 1024, but there's about `1/8th" scroll bar at that resolution. We no longer target 800x600 as only about 4% of all our users, use it.

Next time you see it, would you copy and post what it says?? They may have an error in their ad code
