I think it was completely justified based on the way he presented it. He didn't say "OMG this band is effin amazing you guys should check them out!!!"

Saint: I love your blending, it's very fluid and rhythmic. You also have a great sense of agreeable hues and I think the colors in your piece are well selected. I feel that the bottom of the image falls off and perhaps it needs some balance, however I'm no worthy advocate of visual harmony so you can take it or leave it. I loooove the scratchy filter thing. The whole image gives me goosebumps.
Nguma Monene: Powerful image buddy. There's so much to say about your intricate use of textures and color, but I think anyone who looks at your piece in regard to these specifics is well aware of how talented you are. Very earthy and raw and I'm completely diggin it.
Jujumon: Your vectors are very smooth and clean and your ability to create such colorful eye candy is apparent. Nice balancing and foreshortening with that purple shape in the bottom left and the blue just on the right in front of the grass and behind the chick's hand. I'm not too sure about your typeface because it doesn't really say "love shack" to me, but maybe I need to hear the music to really understand. I'd also suggest using a different blending mode for the red overlay on the house, only because the shadows are a little washed out in the windows and under the roof. Overall, it looks like you spent a lot of time on your image and it definitely shows.

I just had a brief moment of inspiration, we'll see if it heads off anywhere.

Just a little somethin somethin.
Just for info, the black space where the text is was part of the photo, I didn't add it in I just utilized it. Not to the greatest extent, but I gave it a shot.

NIRVANA - Come as you are
Come as you are, as you were,
As I want you to be
As a friend, as a friend, as an old enemy.
Take your time, hurry up
The choice is yours, don't be late.
Take a rest, as a friend, as an old memoria
Memoria (x3)
Come doused in mud, soaked in bleach
As I want you to be
As a trend, as a friend, as an old memoria
Memoria (x3)
And I swear that I don't have a gun
No I don't have a gun (x2)
Memoria (x3)
Memoria - and I don't have a gun
And I swear that I don't have a gun
No I don't have a gun (x4)
Memoria (x2)
EDIT:
Cant get the image to show up.
