I am new to Flash and am very interested in gaming. I am almost finished with my latest game, "The Last Shock Trooper" which is located at http://www.fasthosting.net/shoot/ . It is not very comclicated, all it uses is basically just movie clips, tell targeting, and buttons. It is fun, nonetheless, though. I would like to start using games where you control a character and have him shoot out at things. (and vice versa with the enemies). Using collision detect. I know nothing about it and would love to start learning how to use it. What is the first thing I should do or check out? Also, does anyone have a tutorial up? (hopefully not just a .fla cauz I hate picking them apart. Thanks everyone and tell me how you like my game so far!
P.s. In the game you cannot die because I didnt make the die scene yet. And there is no ending.

Visit Ultimate Arcade!
Hi,
Ultimate Arcade ( http://www.ultimatearcade.com ) has downloadable .flas and tutorials pertaining to more than 1 type of collision detection.
Also, we have downloadable .flas to show you how to make things shoot using duplicate movie clip!
This is definately the place to start.
Hope this helps.

Here is something to look at.
Hi,
This sounds similar to what you mentioned:
http://www.ultimatearcade.com/laboratory/dup.html
Space Bar shoots, n jumps (or kneals?), m kneals (or jumps?), left to go left, right to go right, up to shoot up, down to aim down. There is only collision detection for o ne badguy.
We started this about 8 months ago then abandoned it. We are talking about continuing with it but we would start over since we are all better programmers/designers now.
I just posted that for viewing. At this time we are not releasing any .flas for this.
Hope seeing this helps show you what can be done in Flash!
