Flash 5 bitmap transparency

My alpha control is disabled when I try to apply it to a bitmap, broken apart or otherwise. Possible? possible in MX?

Did you convert it to a symbol?

yes, I converted it to a button symbol. I want the over state to be faded but the alpha control is grayed out.

can you post an .fla with your button in it, so I can see what is happening?

In Flash create a box that has color (and not outside lines) over the bitmap and then use the alaph settings.

Why not import *.png, It should be the only file format you should use to import.
