    Stupid Network...got a sec?

    well i got this shiney new computer from a client of mine came right from the dell warehouse nice computer .. but i cannot get it to join my network and i cannot figure it out.. i have 3 other computers on the network all sharing fine but this one is being stubborn i can connect to the net but not to my networked computers..any advice?

    Is file and printer sharing enabled? Have you shared any folders? Did you set it up with the same workgroup name?

    What OS does it have?

    try pinging it from another computer in the network?

    they all have windows xp pro

    hmm.. i haven't trid that .. i show the shared folders for my computer on the network but when the other computers try and access them it says i do not have permissions to access them <shrugs>

    what type of network are you running? with windows xp you may have to add permissions to eeach shared folder. try right clicking the folder and going to sharing/properties, there should be a list of permissions there to add a user and or a group. the easiest thing is to put all the computers into a group and then whenever you share a foldeer for the public use of the computers add that group to teh shared list.

    Bollocks... Right click on a computer thats working on My Computer, click Properties > Computer Name...

    Under the domains tab, see what your domain is called...

    On the new computer right click on My Computer > Properties > Computer name...

    Add the domain there... restart... should be all groovy, if its not smash something...
