    How does this work? Do you hear a dial tone when you first pick up the phone? That's only main thing I need from it. Thanks.

    Thanks for the link. I have plans to build a tone generator, I was just hoping that a VOIP box had it built in already. Time to go find some oscillators.

    I'm pretty sure the normal dialtone is a low amp 110volt tone. At least it use to be. I doubt VoIP is the same setup. It's no doubt all digital now, and probably even a setting you can change like a cellphone.

    We have VOIP with Vonage and have a dial tone.
