People, it's not about the popups, it's about FK stooping to using them.

Yea, I hear ya... but hey, I guess it just goes to show you they are no different than any other Ad SPAMMIN site on the net.

I learned that a while back.

Actually, it wasn't an FK ad, it obviously came from one of the page ads running that we have all trained ourselves to ignore.

I've often wondered why people even bother anymore. We're all so use to them it's a reflex action to just turn the eyes away and ignore them, sort of like a cow swishing flies.

Maybe that's why they seem to be getting bigger and uglier? If you have something to really hate, your more likely to remember it?

    I say let them continue...
keeps jobs open for people to design quick and dirty ads.

I know the trend now is for Google adwords type ads.
    Inline text.

They must be somewhat effective stil...
Why would they continue to do so?
Maybe the ad managers haven't had time to study their results

I hope that over time their impact will diminish completely though thus getting rid of them completely. You never know though. There are alot of suckers out there .

Ads do work. I've bought over $800 worth of software from FK ads, but not spent a dime on anything in a popup. I got everything off the home page, in that center column, and I went looking for it.

I hate door to door vacuum cleaner and hair brush salesmen.

I hate door to door evangelists even more.

    Good point.

So you see the ad, but don't click it. But you seek the software advertised yourself.
So the ad was effective, but they cannot track that purchase to the ad.

I dont know anything about pop ups but I will find out. I'm fairly certain that they dont exist but then again I run FF with pop ups blocked.

I'll find out what the deal is and let you know.

Thanks for reminding me, I checked with the developers and there are no pop up ads on Flash Kit. They do have pop ups from time to time on some of their sites but they are only used for polls and JM related surveys.

There's no popup code on this forum. There's no place they could hide it that I wouldn't be able to see it. I haven't checked the main page of the site mind you, just the forum.
