Keep losing my connection
Anyone else ever deal with this problem?:
I can be on my computer all day and i'll have no problem with the Internet or even the speed of it. HOwever, if i leave my computer for more than a couple hours, i can't get to any webpages, and have to reset my computer. When i reset my comp, the internet is fine. What's going on? I don't think it has anything to do with my router or broadband box (cable) as my g/f's computer doesn't do this. I've tried looking at my firewall settings, but i don't think anything is wrong with them.
Anyhelp would be great.

It's probably your ISP. They must drop your IP after a certian time of non-use.

But like i said, my g/f's computer doesn't have this problem and we are on the same ISP

Hmmm, maybe try swapping routers and see if the problem follows.

go into the properties of your ethernet port and uncheck the box that allows your computer to turn it off to save power.

the first thing I thought when I read the title was "losing my religion" by REM covered to "loosing my connection"

yes, master. go to control panel, then network connections, then right-click local area connection, then click "configure..." button, then power management, then uncheck all, then here you go. I think Loyal Rogue meant this, I don't know though.

I think i figured out my problem. I have System Mechanic installed on my comp, a while back i used their stupid utility of 'Net Booster' to speed up my connection. I disabled that stupid function and now it doesn't cut out on me any more. Thanks for the help anyhoo.

Yep. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner.
Glad you found the culprit.

Thanks, but unfortunately, Mecha's suggestion didn't ammount to anything. I don't have a power management tab in the steps he suggested. It's alright now though.
Edit: Mecha, thanks for the help, i'm sure we have different configs, so don't feel bad you couldn't solve my problem.
