How to do these cool buttons !! ?

Does anyone have a tutorial/sample of how to do button effect such
as :

1. square focus (using mask) effect on "Upload Now" button on http://www.templatemonster.com/swish...ates/7007.html

2. circular button focus effect in "Gallary Updates" at bottom of:

http://www.templatemonster.com/swish...ates/8904.html

looks to me like it's just a button an on mouseover, a movie clip loads.
