Reminds me this bit on the Daily Show a couple of months ago, comparing Bush and Blair meeting with 'the people'. Blair got grilled, totally grilled, by people in the audience while Bush just got his arse licked. I think a leader needs to be ready to go before an audience and be able to answer their questions directly, without being told what the questions will be, subjects perhaps, and certainly without having their team hand pick the 'people'.

You can't help but wonder why they have to do this, it was the same the first time he was speaking about the disaster, there were a bunch of coastguard standing behind him. Why? Surely people are just going to wonder wtf they're doing there instead of helping.
