So who’s got the list of all the countries that have come to the aid of the U.S.?

And what about the list of links for aid and contributions to help the millions of Americans who are now homeless, jobless and lost their loved ones? Just curious.

Ironic or tasteless, as individual readers choose to view your post, the answer would still be to let George throw his war money at a different wall and see if it sticks there instead.

Aint gonna happen. Unfortunately it appears no one likes the US anymore.

I just heard the mayor of NO say deaths there alone will be in the thousands.

the article says that Chavez and the swiss pledge aid. Everybody else, by and large, gives sympathy.

But honestly, we really don't need their help.

Islamic extremists rejoiced in America's misfortune, giving the storm a military rank and declaring in Internet chatter that "Private" Katrina had joined the global jihad, or holy war. With "God's help," they declared, oil prices would hit $100 a barrel this year.

This is the most magnanimous statement yet.

To claim you're hard done by is crass and insensitive. Have each of your high-earning population throw a few cents into a pot and make a billion that way if it'll help you sleep at night.

Those beneath US$20K per annum can just feel guilty.

This county alone has brought up 250k... and this area has been hit hardest by economic issues - 13.8k jobs lost in 5 months in a county of less than 400k.

And that's a "no-string's attached" donation from people that's poor as hell around here.

The other countries... they need our help. This country is helping itself first... what comes from the other countries... thanks.

Frankly I can't believe the US would take aid.

Whatever the motivation, it simply throws fresh ammunition to those wanting to portray the country as weakened.

If you were ever going to look for a terrorist attack, it'd be now, their superficial intelligence probably highlighting a country in 'crisis'.

This is definitely a very serious situation and regardless of governments, terrorists or just plain old stupid people, these folks in Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi are suffering and dieing and need help.

I for one am going to do whatever I can to help just like I do when disaster hits anywhere else in the world. People are people regardless of where they happen to live.

Your tax dollars are supposed to help fellow Americans in times of need.

Isn't that really the big idea?

Yeah. We will be fine without help because our own citizens will donate millions if not billions. But, believe it or not, there are people in the US that need help. It's a bit unfair to judge the need of individuals stricken by a disaster based on their countries GDP. We don't just borrow each others millions.
