Which sites showcases products the best?

I'm looking for ideas on how best to sell stuff online?

i actually like amazon, because of these sections....
Customers who bought this title also bought
Customers interested in Britney Spears may also be interested in
and the differnt types of reviews on there.

but if you mean actual design/layout, i don't know. i just like amazon for the content.

Yup, Amazon is the best at pushing you to buy... I always use that example when talking to clients.

I'm more at looking for a site that showcases products in a great way, that isn't broken into square tables like the rest of the internet!

Diesel *screw the typical format, they don't follow conventions*
Kenneth Cole Reaction *simple, but uses awesome photos*
    Camper
    Trinidad Exports
    Adult Swim
Polo/Ralph Lauren *just easy to navigate*
    Urban Outfitters
    Medium Footwear
    Panic

Just a few that's stuck in my head.

    www.bananarepublic.com

Check out the Quick Look feature.
I really enjoy forgetting. When I first come to a place, I notice all the little details. I notice the way the sky looks. The color of white paper. The way people walk. Doorknobs. Everything. Then I get used to the place and I don't notice those things anymore. So only by forgetting can I see the place again as it really is.

    404

I don't think flash should be used... its cumbersom compaired to plain html/css and provides an extra navigation layer in the mix thats often not needed...

Anyway, lets not turn this into a flash or html thread. Thanks

Just built an AJAX shop for a client. Deleting an item from your cart or updating the quantity goes live, without browser refresh.

    http://www.swismachine.nl/~musicallin/online_winkel

(please don't look at the images, photo's are first result from Google image-search, photo studio has some work to do).

I like having websites where the URL presents to you where you are. Next to that a breadcrum is on every page in the shop.

Showcase sites will vary a lot depending on the product style, I think the www.oneill.com site is well done for the product but obviously wouldn't suit somewhere selling kettles.

Don't let markp get you down.
Personally I find a really well done 404 page to be extremely functional.

Actually, something I noticed was that 3 of the first 4 on his list were Flash sites.
    Check em out again.

    Nice list, Gerbs. Thanks.

For the RoadRunner link, it should be: http://www.rr.com/flash/

Here's a few more. I've been amassing some links because I've been looking at finishing up a site for a friend and they're after a cool looking site too.

    On2
    Konzuk
    Ventura Watches
    Nixon Watches
    Burton Snowboards

I'd list some more... but I'm starting to show a pattern.

    Don't worry.
We won't tell your friend where you ripped their site from.

Somehow you have to find a way to integrate this into the store if you ever do it:
