Hard disk help
Righty ho,
just installed a 1gb of ram and a 200gb hard disk on my PC, and the new hard disk isn't showing up as a usable drive.
I seem to remember something about having to format it and partition it, but could someone provide a link to how to do it. I quite like the idea of partitioning it into a couple of different sections, again, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Jim

Works most of the time, but not for certain brands. What brand is your HD? If Seagate, it should have come with a utility to run in order to make the drive "usable" by your OS.
Also, are you sure the jumpers are set correctly? (this should be in the drive documentation).

you might have to partion it through dos, or get a second party partition software.
is it windows 2000 pro?

yeah, 2k pro, and the jumpers are set correctly (to slave). the drive is showing as working properly, but I can't remember how to assign it a drive letter and be usable!

Did you check the WD site for tools they have to help install the drive?
