Matrix thingy
How do you make the slow-motion matrix affect on an object?
-
Flash Gordon
The "slomo matrix effect" is basically done out of two combined effects:
- dynamically "zooming" into the slomo, which means getting slower each frame until you reach full slomo. (Even speeded up at the beginning)
- a 3d capturing of the scene. In the movie done with loads of cameras taking one picture each from a special position at a special time.
Or do you want a readily done swf ?

What do you mean on the 3d part, I dont get that part.

Flash Gordon
Hmm.. basically they put about 50 cameras in a cirlce around the object, all take a picture simultaniously. If you now display each picture one by one, you get a movement around the object which shows the object standing totally still...
Got it? I can't explain better..
How to do it in flash..
I just looked up the Movies section, found this one:
http://www.flashkit.com/movies/Anima...2171/index.php
not a good one, but for an initial start it might do.. but search the "Movies" section on FK maybe you find a better one.

Yeah, I was asking about Flash, not in real life.
Thank for that though.

Flash Gordon
Yes, but you need to know how it works real life, when you try to animate it..
Like you can't draw a face, if you've never seen one. It will be a picture by
picture animation, which will be much work.

I have seen this matrix-slomo effect done with Swift3D but i cant find it again..

And check out Swift3D: http://www.erain.com/
But it really depends on what you wanna animate..

The matrix effect in pause mode:

Press and hold down your mouse to spin around.
To do this in flash and have it look nice, you would be best off creating and animating the objects in a 3D program and then exporting them to flash. IE: Swift3D
