Is this flash menu worth selling?

i have attached a menu that i made for a friend that needed it for a site hes making as a favor. He doesn't know much flash, so i made it completely dynamic. all of the colors, the menu items, the submenu items, and the targets for the menu items... I just want any feedback on this... Maybe take the little bit more time to convert it all over to xml that way its even easier to customize. Would someone buy this for maybe $50?

$50? You'd have a mighty lot of competition - some templates cost less than that and there's whole businesses that make fancy XML Flash menues and sell them less than that. I don't think it'd be a very viable venture.

It's a judgement call really. Do you want to sell it for that?

I just saw a website that is selling variations of the infamous page flip source code for 150 bucks so I guess any sale is possible. To me...it gives me a chuckle...but to someone not in the know....they may reach for their wallet.

    Hi,
with a bit of work I think it's saleable but for your example you have to make it more attractive. Ditch the serif font, improve the animation a bit and put it in a working environment (ie a sweet looking example site).

off topic: I checked out your site and something was amiss - check the screenie.
    I'm using XpSp2 IE6.

well, for the menu, it looks really nice in the site it was designed for which i dont have it to show you right now, my friend is still working on it. that is the font that he wanted becasue it's what he used on the site. as for the animation...i don tknow how it can be improved...everything is made by code...the animation and everything...if anyone is interested, i can post the .fla

as far as my site...thats really weird, it never used to do that! i know ive checked it before in IE and it didnt do that...i know it doesnt in firefox (which everyone should use!)

i know, i know, i just havn't got round to it yet

I do think the menu is quite nice though especially now I know the animation is scripted - with it being dynamic also I reckon it's a pretty good base to build a product.

    good luck

i have attached the .fla for it...right now the menus are dynamic, but they are hardcoded into the .fla file with arrays and objects...but they are very easy to customize...i can easily convert that to xml if i needed to for something

haha, i dont mind the harsh criticism...this definitely isnt my best work...it was designed for one site in mind and it fits that one quite well...i just wasnt sure how it would work with anything else...thanks for the opinions anyways

Make it into a component, and then look to selling it for 19 or so.

And in the future, if you think you might be planning on selling something you may want to refrain from posting the source code publicly. Just a thought.
