Please review NEW game. Muneeba. Feedback appreciated.

Please review the game at the above link.
I helped develop it with those on deviantart.
If you have comments, could you post them here.
As I realise you can post them there, but I'd like technical flashy talk to be kept in here, where I can discuss things, rather than on someone elses thread (in this case, the artists).

    Thanks in anticipation.
    David.

Ehhh... the art's good, but the animation on the protaganist is restricted and artificial... would she not spread her arms out for balance when jumping, and bend her knees before leaving the ground, plus have a landing animation?

The jumping doesnt feel right. I mean with such realistic character its unnatural, the jumping makes her act like a balloon and not like human.

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate feedback.
I think next time (next game) we need to really think about human movement a little more. We've already released this game and it's been distributed, so it would be hard to amend. I will consider putting the game on here prior to release, next time.

I was considering the idea of using a flick book to test and create the required animation. Has anyone attempted this paper and pencil prototyping method. Is it useful?

I didn't mind the slow, floaty jumping, but I think it could be improved if the player was given some level of control - quicky tapping the up arrow should produce a short jump while holding it would yield maximum height. A double-jump feature, either earned or always available, would be interesting. Also, extra points could be awarded for combo kills ala Super Mario Bros.

    Nice art too.

EDIT: Forgot to comment about dieing. A simple animation would be preferred. As it is currently, the screen black-out happens so fast I wasn't sure what happened when I stepped on a thorn. Detracts from the immersion IMHO.

I think its easier to play within Flash, you can achieve much better control over timing.

Oh. I forgot. When you drop or die, it would be cool if you lost a life.

What do you mean? You got me really worried then.
I tested the game. Got her to fall from a platform and she loses a life.
When she dies she loses a life. To be honest with you it was designed around a young girl and her fear of slugs and bats. So the first level is a little simple. I wuldn't have had any lives for the game. If you die that's it, start again. But the client wanted it to be easier. I think it works best for young people.

I love the idea of fairy wings.

I must put future games developments in here before realease. Thanks everyone.

Also, Here is a suggestion: You could make the enemys follow you. Like if its heading --> and you jump onto the platform, It will start coming at you going <--.
