Hi, get the image in photoshop

go to Image > adjust > destaturate, this will take all the colour out of the image, then Image > adjust > brightness-contrast

tick the preview box and slide the arrows up and down.

depending on the original image this should work quite well, another thing you could do if the image has lots of light tints you could add a new layer fill it with black, turn down the opacity (so you see through it) and using the eraser tool and a soft brush rub out the highlights, then turn up the layer opacity to darken the image.

let us know how you get on

I responded with a way in your other thread

    Here it is again:

Convert to grayscale then back to rgb.

I made a Curves and a Brightness/contrast layer mask over my original.
curves settings: bottom handle: input 58 output 0 middle handle: input 58 output 137 top handle: input 116 output 253
    brightness/contrast settings: B -95 C +61

I then made a copy of the original and place it at the top of the layers (this is so you can see what your doing) I darkened it up with levels I can't remember the settings (sorry just play with it a bit). I then put a gaus blur of 13 on it. I then moved this layer below the layer masks and changed its blend mode to difference.

    Here is the end result.

I realize it is not exact but if you play with the levels on the copied layer you can get it closer to what you want.

Also it could be cool to make it a duotone when your done to add a slight hue
One more thing when your done you can flatten it and do a render>lighting effects on it. This i did in like 5 secs
