Very well done. I was wondering when/if anyone was going to try and do a good racer in flash. So far it looks like you guys are on the right "track" .... ug, that was lame.

I got a constant 21fps which was nice and smooth. I running flash player 8 on intel 4 ghz with a good graphics card (ATI X700).

I think the key at this point is going to be details, both in physics and in the overall graphics of the track and cars. Having a few car models, each with thier own distinct and subtle characteristics would be a nice touch. I am sure the final track will come complete with rails and detailed scenery, which will also add a great deal. Like someone else mentioned, for the physics feeling a "snap" when you come out of a turn would be cool.

Keep up the great work guys.

Have you tried running this bad boy with a resolution wrapper? Say at 640x480?

    21 FPS consistanly.

I like it, but as the others said it way to slow for a racing game.

It was, but not as bad as my comrades one...

*groan* and he thought he got away with it...

Thanks for the nice comments leason. We do plan to have slightly different cars, probably unlocking/upgrading them as you win championships, although those details haven't fully been decided upon.

Thanks to Gloo pot too, one of the slower CPU's tested, so I'm glad it was running at fps similar to others for you.

No net yet, I've never tried any of the wrappers to be honest. But it might be nice to when it's complete

Thanks again to everyone who's given feedback from both me and tom.

Wow, I'm really impressed! This has to be my favourite racing Flash game! I think most Flash races out there are way too fast, and this game is just my speed ^^ The enemies are just as fast as you are, so you will need to be a little cunning to beat them. One question, do the bots try and follow a set path on the course, or do they actually 'see' when they get to a bend?

    Hey Johnny,

Thanks for the comments. The AI is currently based on a waypoint system to travel around the track. So in essence, they have targets to aim for at all of the bends, when they hit the target they are assigned a new one and act accordingly to make sure that they hit it. There is also other information embedded in the targets such as the optimal speed to hit them (this is handy for creating sharp bends).

I have looked into the 'seeing' system before and found it is much harder to create a natural, flowing movement.. the cars tend to follow less realistic racing lines and drive in a less sober manner :-D

In the current alpha release all of the racers aim for the same targets on the track. This is something we are hoping to upgrade in the next version so there is a little more variation. We will also be adding some short range ' awareness ' so that the AI can move to overtake and avoid opponenets!

You never said you couldn't before...

Whats the problem? The menus do not use the mouse, they are keyboard based with space / return to select.

    Hey Incrue,

Sorry to hear you can't access the game could you please tell me what browser you are using and what internet connection you have? I think i will have to look at a slightly better loading system as it seems it may have stalled on your machine.

    Regards,
    Tom.
