Zone Alarm is spying on you!

I know some of you here use it... so thought I'd bring it up....

It seems that ZoneAlarm Security Suite has been phoning home, even when told not to. Last fall, InfoWorld Senior Contributing Editor James Borck discovered ZA 6.0 was surreptitiously sending encrypted data back to four different servers, despite disabling all of the suite’s communications options.

Is ZoneAlarm even necessary for most people? Most routers do SPI, but even still, isn't NAT enough to protect you from outside threats looking to get in?

Yup, I've been touting the need for a hardware firewall/router to all clients/family/friends for the last couple of years... A software firewall is just an app you don't need these days.
