Can Flash 8 write XML locally?

I want to write an XML highscore to locally on a machine.

I don't think Flash MX2004 can do this, but can Flash 8 do it? sort of like an extended version of Shared Object?

Shared objects remain same in FX2004 and Flash8. You can save any kind of data into shared objects, including XML.

Yeah, I tried writing an xml file to shared object. I was under the impression it wouldn't work with an XML file, but it did and even keep the indented formatting :-)

You can store an XML object in a shared object, not a file.

AFAIK using sharedObjects has not changed since the MX (6) days.

    Link.

Uh, yes, you are correct of course. I thought it is enough to save highscore as XML object, but if the point is to get XML file then shared object wont work.

Well, it was just an ordinary shared object, but have a look at the attached. At first nothing will sohw, paste in some XML in the right hand box and hit submit and refresh your browser and it will pull in the XML in the left hand box

Here is something I made a while ago. Storing xml in shared object was possible already in Flash 7.

Sweet. Both work great, but the second one is what I've been wanting.

    Thanks!
