Animator wanting to put work on my site...

Hi everyone.

I'm building a new website, and I have my demo reels plus a few personal projects I'd like to put on the web. I know the basics of video compression, but when it comes to compression for the web, I've had bad luck.

I've been putting together my stuff in After Effects, but I'm building my site in Flash.

Can anyone tell me what good video compression for the web (and Flash, though I'd probably load the files from an external source) is and why? I know this information is out there, but I'm sort on time today and thought someone here would have a good answer.
