    Pasting As New Object?

    Hi Guys,

I wonder if someone would know the answer to this question.

I have a movie with a bunch of text and images in it.

I would like to copy the whole movie and paste it into a new frame so I can change the text and images. It's basically like a rotating product catalog, but I want to use the same animation and save time by just copy and pasting the movie like 8 times on different frames.

My problem is when I go to change the text in one of the movies it changes the text or image in every movie.

Is there a way to past a whole movie and all the objects within it, without it linking to the original objects. So basically i'm asking how to duplicate and rename all objects in one copy and paste.

Is there a way or does flash require you to delete each individual item and start over?

    Thanks,

    Laurence

    You can duplicate any things in the library (right click-> duplicate);
But if you have nested MCs in the duplicated clip you would need to
    duplicate those as well.

But if you just change the text in the MCs you might think about
making the text dynamic and set it via ActionScript.

    Hi,

Thanks. I knew about that I meant something different.

If I were to duplicate the stuff in the library how would the movie clip know to link to those duplicated objects. Should I would have to still change the object link for each individual one?

Even so there must be an easier way in flash to just juplicate everything at once as it seems very time consuming just to perform a simple task.

    Thanks again,

    Laurence

    Yes.

The idea is to reuse objects.

You most likely want to script it,
if you have only slight differences

    That sucks lol

    Ok i'll try the script.

To go for a job in Flash do you think they would expect you to know the programming side as well as the animation?

I personally hate programming but love doing all the animated stuff, included 3D animated models.

    It depends on the job

Btw.. you might hit ctrl-b and F8 again to create a new Object out of
    an old one..
