    a) you dont set the rules so deal with it.
    b) why do you care so much about having a picture under your name.
b2) since you do care so much, go to the help forums and start helping people.

Allow me too be the first to insist that you follow the rules.

Anyway, it is set up at 100 as a goal to incourage partication and not to be faked via spamming the site.

The only incentive past 100 is the gratification of knowing that you helped someone. Just look at gerbick, 16,000+ posts. Their maybe 500,000 members on here but not even half of them are active.

I don't think the incentive is to really pass 100. I think that mostly they are trying to make sure that you are serious before they let you waste space on their server with your image.

Dude, what's an avatar mean to you? I mean... is it enough to sit up and whine and moan about a rule that's in place way before you signed up and it's all because it doesn't fit your want/needs that it causes a problem?

It's just a 75x75 representation of who you are, online, right alongside your anonymous moniker. It means nothing. I'm not the Juggernaut. But all an avatar does is just... well, be there.

And the reason why it's not automatically available is two-fold. If we gave everybody the ability to just sign up and get an avatar, as a moderator, my job would increase. I'd have to deal with people that don't take the time to learn the rules, they'll invariably post something as their avatar that's quite inappropriate - such as some porn or something equally vile... Sesame Street, and I'll have to remove it, contact them, and they'll probably not even read the PM from me because they just don't know how to yet... all because they've just gotten what they wanted, an avatar, and have yet to read a rule. So as I see it, the two reasons simply stated: it's something that you earn, and it's something that you have to learn what's appropriate to have as an avatar - or I have to remove the avatar, if not your account.

Flashkit is spammed on a large basis, from footers to avatars to posts. And that means I'm involved, banning, removing, and editing. I don't want any neophytes to have access to something that's so easy to abuse... learn the rules, and then you'll be just fine.

In case you didn't know, Flashkit is a G-Rated site. So no curses, pornography, hentai, whatever. None of that. And I'm willing to bet you didn't know that yet... and if you do, congrats. You read a rule, observed the surroundings... something.

So... an avatar is really worth all of that? Don't spam the site. You'll be up to 100 in no time. I remember when I stated that 1500 was going to be my "retirement"... now I'm over 16k. It's easy.

Enjoy Flashkit. And welcome to Flashkit too, btw. Take it easy.

First of all no one can force you or anyone else to post ( and i don't think that anyone forced you to make and account on flashkit )... If you realy want an avatar then you'll need to "work" for it, help others or simply ask questions regarding your design/programming problems BUT DO NOT SPAM to make more posts... I'm sure that there are people who don't know half of what you know about flash, so be sure that you can help some too...

I wish you a plesant stay, and enjoy every second here. People visit this forum to help others and to gain experience, if you focus on thoes 2 things you'll have 100 posts in a blink of an eye. Just be cool.

    Cheers,
    Biro

Easy answer, be an active user.

You seriously can't be shocked at this rule as it's pretty common with larger forums and especially in a forum with 500,000+ users. It serves a dual purpose. It helps keep server load down (every bit helps) and rewards users who take an active part in the surroundings by allowing them the "privilege" of a personalized avatar once they reach a predetermined post count.

Many forums out there are much stricter and not only disallow avatar uploading for users who do not reach the desired post count, but also other things like restrict access to certain forums (ranking).
