Removing Spyware ?

Hi guys,

So, what can i say, my "retarded" friend installed a warez of some kind and he got a nice spyware... Now he is desprit to get rid of it because a little thingie always pops up andsaying "you computer is infected..."... I told him to reinstall windows... But i would be curios if is there any other way of getting rid of that nasty spyware ( cause reinstalling windows takes too much time and many data is lost... ).
