Why cant I see the video controller?

I have put together a video player, I followed all the rules, made it progressive video, and still I cant see the video controller...

    Why would that be?

If it is Flash 8, the file for the controller is separate. You have to include the the controller .swf with the rest of the files. This is a common mistake.

There just seems no way that I can get the skin to appear...

When I test it locally, all is fine, and I have taken the skin away and then put it back, passed the files again over to the server, and still nothing appears...

The video works and displays fine, but the skin is the problem.

I worked it out all on my own...

What you got to do and this is for the benefit of others, inside your local copy of the website, make a copy of it and stick it in the root folder of the website, so you got one right at the highest level, and another in the folder where the video player, upload them to your host and hey presto it appears...

absolutely no reasonign behind it at all

Thanks multichild for helping out by posting your solution.

But for me, this works only in Firefox. In IE I still do not see my skin. I have the skin.swf file in both the root directory, and the directory with the .flv and the video.swf..... still, in IE, nada.

    Anyone have an idea????

    THANKS,

    Ryan

    Hi there Ryan,

Thats strange again, as it works fine when i use it in I.E, I havent to be honest even tried it in any of the other browsers...

I'll have a look into it, and if I come up with something, I will let you know.

    Multichild,

You know what I think? I am loading the video as a swf into my main swf using the loadMovie() into a mc called holder_mc. I bet I have to put something into my main swf to tell falsh to load the skin along with the video... just don't know how to do it. Although that still doesnt explain why it works in FF and not IE.

You can see my file at http://www.languagesystems.com/en/ce...rranceTest.asp

    Cheers!

    Thanks

Thanks guys - this really helped me!

I didn't even think to look for the overlay (swf) file. I uploaded it to the same directory as my main swf movie and it now appears in both FF and IE - as opposed to neither before.

Thanks again - I hope you work out your problems. Could it be a cache thing?

What do you do about cache when checking little changes you make?
