Now I need to figure out how the rotating animation was drawn? Was there any 3d application used to make it easier or just manual drawing of the map rotating frame by frame? Since the Globe is transparent, wich makes it look totally awesome, I am especially puzzled with the back of the globe.
All suggestions are welcome. May be even Bishal himself can explain the drawing process here?! Thanks so much in advance!
Yeah, they almost certainly used a 3D application, something like Swift 3D
You could create a crude spinning globe effect using masks in Flash, but it wont look nearly as good as this. let me know if you want me to explain how

I took a quick look at swift3d site, it doesnt looks "too complicated ".
I got the deatiled vector map I traced in Illustator, and thrown onto a 3d ball (Swift3d)and then exported into (somehow) flash and the rotating and rest of my movie done there? Am I getting this process correctly at all?
Alright, Like I said this is very crude but I think if you spent a bit of time on it, it might look ok, all I'm trying to do here is demonstrate the principle.
Take a look inside the symbols to see what I've done, you should be able to figure it out pretty easily
regarding swift 3D, I suggest you download the free trial and play around, I think you should be able to wrap your illustrator artwork around a sphere, but I'm no swift 3D expert.
HI Guys,
I realise that this post was created in 2006, but i just created a 3d flash spinning globe using just flash (without swift 3d).
You can download and play around with it if you wish.
Let me know what you guys think!
