Try working with the type, making it a part of the image. You want someone to look at both the text and the image as one, instead of seperate entities on the same canvas. Font treatment is one of the hardest things to get a hang of, but practice makes perfect young jedi.

I see your point. But there are 2 things that get in my way.

    1. I am not admin, therefore cannot install fonts.
    2. My current fonts suck.

well, about your 2 points. If you cna't pull off good typography...DON'T USE IT. It's a common n00b tendency to use text in every image, but you really don't have to.

    Dude, he's 10. That's illegal.

I think his dad is probably the admin on his comp.

Anyways, decent serve Adobe. My advice is that you should put a little bit more time into your volleys if you want to get a serious taker. We just finished our battle and your average return time was a few hours. Now, I know that some people can toss up great volleys that fast, but as a beginner I'd expect you to take longer.

Read some tutorials, check out worth1000.com for some good ones. Get some inspiration, and really try to make something look good. A lot of your images seem over filtered, and over layer-styled. It looks like you take a few images, blur them, overlay them, brush them up, add some text, and that is your volley. Put some thought and some effort into the volleys that you make, and I guarantee they will start to improve.

The one thing that I have noticed is that although your Flash skills have improved, the margin between your first and current Photoshop volleys aren't that great. Spend some time on it and you will get it.

while i've never tried worth1000.com's tuts, i have to suggest utilizing www.good-tutorials.com . They've got some pretty specific things if you search in the correct manner.

It's all about the process and the technique, not just the goal. Adobe, i know you're only 10, but i have to say, for being that age, you're doing pretty good for yourself. To get takers here, you're going to have to step up your game a bunch. Most people here are between the ages of 18-35 and have 'some' design experience. Not to knock your chances here, but a little more research on how you can utilize photoshop or fireworks can really help you out. And by the way DON'T use filters as much as you do (i actually don't use any at all in 99% of my images).

You should really only use the Lens Flare and Clouds filters

    Thanks for the tips guys.
Oh, and I couldn't post this before because the server was "too busy".
I used 1 filter on the last volley. (The rest was just layers and masking.)

Even so, the image looks over-filtered.
