[pimp / hype] pixelKick
so this morning we have launched the preview site of our latest game, pixelKick.
It's a footie game, in the mould of sensible soccer but, hopefully, even cuter.
www.pixelkick.com
The game is our first attempt to see if it is viable to both develop a hit game and sell the media space onto advertisers / brands (along with a partner company). If anyone registers their email address for more info, they would have my never ending gratitude, as it is these stats that we will be using to excite advertisers.
I'm sure it will be the death of me having to finish the development of this game by July 1st, but hell, life would be boring if you onyl tried to do easy things.
There are some super cute MSN emoitcons to download too if anyone wants them on the site...

do as you please with those emoticons willoughby.
[in fact I think it would make Jon our pixel artist smile from cheek to cheek to see it being used]

NOTE TO SELF: This is how you pimp a game
Looks very promising. Nice work. Ill register soon.

If this will play anything like sensible soccer, you've got yourself a player here.
From time to time I have this (almost) unstoppable urge to play sensible soccer.

well, the engine is kinda based on Sensible's. Plays similar but not exactly the same.

now now...vapourware is a bit strong isnt it? That would imply that it wasnt in production yet...which trust me it is, I dont deprive myself of this much sleep for a product io dont intend to ship

In a later version, if MP going to be an option?

Heli Attack!
The game looks like fun, I can't wait to sink my teeth into this one.
My only thought is the players look a lot like the sprites from Zelda - A Link to the Past

They seem to share the same size, proportions and eyes =\
Either way, they look terrific!

ok ok .... so maybe it is Link in a footie strip kinda.....so sue me...umm actually don't please Nintendo I love you. As long as no one shouts it too loud, Im sure no one will mind...and quite frankly if I get busted for taking inspiration from my favourite sprite ever, I'm taking all the scum off newgrounds down with me
As it's you guys I might as well elaborate more on the actual ideas behind this one. it is not going to be the most realistic soccer sim ever, it is going to be a fun little kick around, BUT, with lovely presentation and enough fun added to impress people. For example, some matches randomly switch to black and white and the players all look 1950s, there are silly celebration animations.
Yes, we would love to make it online multiplayer, but we cannot even start thinking abotu such things at the moment. The big issue for us is, can we make and host a game profitably.
