    Straight Ahead Media

Some of you may have caught that jwinmedia.com was going under some changes, well, here it is. We're not live yet I just wanted to run this through the gauntlet because we need to get it basically wrapped up tomorrow.

    Anyway without further adieu
    http://test.straightaheadmedia.com

Just lay it on me about design/functionality/coetus interuptus, whatever. If you find a bug please post it.

    Thanks, in advance

also, please list your OS + Broswer, and other specs if you feel they apply

Problem: Seems as though the Nav dosn't work with the pointer.
(Pointer = 3 little dots circled.)

there's no real rational reason that that would occur. On 3 computers XP media center and 2 xphome with FF 1.5.0.3 and .4 this is not an issue.

The flash piece on the top isnt loading for me, well its technically loading, but nothing is happening. I'm not getting any nav, all i'm getting is the paper background. Maybe you're in the process of testing it or something.

i'm had the same problem as Adobe. the 'Work' link wasn't active if you mouseover the letter 'k' in work. But i clicked somewhere else, went back to home and the whole word is active....very odd.

it seems there is some weird isht happening in FF. I could have something to do with the new embedding. Its embeded via JS and the noscript tag has the flash in it again in case some one doesnt have js activated.

Maybe I should go a step farther and put a conditional so only IE sees the JS crap and for FF and all others it will load like a normal swf.

Bah, the Eolas people should die and burn in hell

    oh yeh, btw

stop using the subdomain as its likely to be real buggy from now on as its the test bed for everything.

This is a very elegant site and i love the idea... I hate to sound critical but here it goes. I like the frey drop down on page view but its movement is somewhat mechanical when its look is so elegant. Perhaps increasing the frame rate statewide or a bit on that movie, also you could start the paper drop down fast then at the end slow it down and then have it bounce a little like the nav drop down you did. Your frame rate is ??, should be 45-50 (fairly standard in most cases). The navigation is not doing it for me, it may just be the font...

Suggestions: You could add some movement to the pictures like in the city pic you could animate some lights flashing or a streak of light perhaps looking like a car passing... or in the plane pic since its your entrance page have the clouds moving across the sky.. many scripts for this check the fla section. overall it is really clean and professional. and you have a very elegant platform to build on!!!! I hope this helps...

    GL with your launch.

Hey thanks funk. All good stuff, the frame rate is 45fps. I know what you are saying about the paper and I have been drudging over that for some time. Also, we are on the exact wavelength with the slight animation in the photos. I have some decent ideas cooking but we needed to launch.

    Thanks again

um, hold off on it for a bit, obviously I'm hip deep in crap right now. I also gotta see how easy it's going to be to port the forum over to the new server, and then get jwinmedia.com pointed at that server blah blah. Anyway, thanks man, I'll keep ya posted.

Thanks creative. Perfecting the embed is my goal tonite I think. I am also going to try to take it one step farther so if people don't even have flash it will just show a jpg with image mapped navigation. I'm not a fan of people having to install crap to see my site in a respectable form.

alright guys, I layed out the embed the way was talking about and everything seems fine. For anyone that cares I will be writing this method up in the samedia blog (whenever I get that finished, hopefully tonite).

The only thing I have't done yet is degrade to a static image if no flash is installed, fortunately I publish flash 6 and some 85% of computers have at least that. Anyway
    Thanks,
    -J
