    Is total OS Flash development possible?

    Is it possible (without a lot of pain) to do flash development using totally open source tools? I noticed some script editors and a compiler at osflash. Are those replacements for the Adobe flash IDE or suppliments to it?

    Thanks

    It depends what you want. If you're mainly doing code + displaying bitmaps and dynamicaly drawing shapes, then by using MTASC/haXe and SwfMill you can get everything done with OS tools.

    There is no complete OS tool for drawing like you do in the Flash IDE.

    I just would like to write & compile a flashlite 1.1 program which shows the contents of this assignment:

    Code:
    battLevel = fscommand2("GetBatteryLevel");
    Can this be done?
    How?
    I installed both "FAME" (=eclipse+MTASC) and FlashDevelop, but I don't know where to look to find how to declare a variable and how to display a string in FL 1.1 .

    osflash.org

    I would suggest you point your browser at osflash.org, lots of good guides / tools to help you develope flash opensource.

    Personally I do not see a huge need for the tools I use to create my work in to be opensource, I would much rather see more fla's with a pretty CC or GNU licence attached to them.

    about .fla files.... what are them? I've been told they are source, but I see binary data into them! Can't they be converted into Actionscript or something similar?
    I've found several interesting SWF, with corresponding FLA "source", into flashlite 1.1 CDK, but I don't knwo how to read the FLA!

    What do you mean by "CC lincence"?

    Fla's are just files containing graphics, and possible actionscript. So no it cannot be converted to actionscript.

    Regarding CC its just short of Creative Commons.
