    and to use a mac since actual admin authentication procedure is required before anything like this is installed.

    Yea, i want my os asking me for authorization everytime i want to install anything.

    Dont think your mac will protect you either:
    I see no reasons why it should not be possible to port it to other operating systems, like Linux or BSD
    If you are dumb enough to install crapware on your machine then you deserve what you get.

    This wont be 100% undetectable for long, its only a matter of time before one of the big security firms finds a way to block this type of malware.

    I truly think that virtualization of the OS - supported in Linux, Vista and Mac OS 10.5 (upcoming/rumor) - will bring new level of spyware/virii that these people just haven't thought of yet... I'm almost willing to bet.

    Can hardware virtualization be disabled in the BIOS? If so, that should be an industry standard factory default setting. Most people will never need to run a VM that relies on hardware virtualization, any software that allows it should include instructions on how to enable the feature. Problem solved.
