[RESOLVED] Everything Reacts as a Button in My .swf file!??

Ok...this is driving me #@$!%$# nuts!

I created a .swf and when I view it...and move through out....the cursor acts as though everything is a button!? I have no idea why...this isn;t the first .swf file I have created!

The actual buttons work fine to load the appropriate pages when clicked BUT....when the mouse moves throughout different pages that open on the website...it 'appears as the hand' when I click...it acts like a giant button.

Anyone know what could be wrong?? This is annoying....

Maybe I am missing the obvious..but I can't get what is happening.

in The 'Our Work' section..it loads an external .swf that has controls to view the images in a gallery. I cant use the controls because everything acts like a button.

I have attached the files so you can view what I mean!

    Please help! LOL

Please check it here www.autographixdesign.ca to see what i mean!

if the movieclip has any mouse or input handlers that will happen
onRollOver ,onRollOut, onPress, on Release, etc.

I am not quite sure what I am looking for.. I don't see anything that would indicate that....
    but that would make sense...

I seems to ONLY happened when movie clips are opened and I mouse over them...

Any ideas on what I should do?

Check the white background, top and bottom. It only happens when the mouse moves over those two.

    well people....thank you....
After clearing my head abit (over some supper)...I have found the problem.

I had an 'on release' action attached to my main movie clip which held most of my content.

I eliminated that and it solved the issue.

Problem now is that my external .swf file that is for viewing my images has buttons inside of it which now don't seem to want to control the images??

Am I correct in assuming that any 'controls or buttons' in an externally loaded .swf file should work...even though it is a separate .swf file?

If you load the swf into an empty movieclip then lock the root of the mc

    mc._lockroot = true;

hey...what does that do?? I tried it and nothing changed! The buttons still dont work that are located in the external .swf file.

    This seems really odd....
they work fine when I open ONLY that .swf file by itself....... when I call it to load in my other movie they dont work...and 2 buttons dont even show up!

    Any ideas?

What is the name of the movieclip to load your movie in?

This is not a matter of believe. Believing is not knowing. You need to exactly (precisely spelling small and capital letters) know the name. Then when the movieclip is present the first time you write supposed galleryviewer is the name:

    galleryviewer._lockroot = true;

well...what I meant is.....I wasnt able to check the name for sure at that time!

I have since checked this out and found the name to be 'viewerholder'

I will try using your code with this name in place of 'galleryviewer' and see what it does...

    Talking

    Thank you !! WOOOoooooooooo!

That did it! It is now working!

Could you tell me briefly exactly what that 'code' means? I mean like what it does to change things??

I will have to remember that for the future!

I love this forum! I always get the right answers FAST!

    Thanks for your input...

It means that the timeline of your movie will be maintained as if the movie plays alone without being loaded into a movieclip. Your problem is a typical scope problem.
