    creature competition

    FLASHKIT CREATURE COMPETITION

starts: August 01/06 ends: September 01/06

    Rules:

    - anyone can enter
    - must create an actionscript driven creature in any AS version
    - creature must have a purpose Optional
    - creature must achieve a goal
    - creature can be and do anything
    - creature must have some sort of user interaction

    Winner:

    - Winner is judged by people of FK
    - Creature will be judged on: Originality, functionality, intelligence and entertainment

    Deadline:

    - Competition will run for one month or until enough creatures have been created

    Submission:

    - all creatures must have names
    - description: its goals
    - can submit swf to me to upload to a server or use a server of your own choice.
    - don't submit to the forum or allow for previews before the day of submission, keep your creature secret.
    - On the day of submission a new thread will be created by me, which will hold all links to submissions and allow for voting

    Resource:

here are some resources to get started:
    - http://www.bit-101.com/ (goto lab/ source)
    - http://www.kirupa.com/developer/flas.../_ActionScript (springs)
    - http://www.liquidjourney.com/flash/lq3.html (goto source)
    - and of course flashkit

No need to PM me asking to compete, simply just start something. Hopefully someone will want to mess around with this. I think it could be fun, remember to make your creature interesting, doesn't have to invlove a massive physic engine (remember your creature has to work). Interacting with an enviroment is a good way to get some interactivity in there. Changes to rules can be discussed and i would encourage it

A creature that lives off sound would be cool (you know, with AS3's glitzy shizzle). Might have a go, but there is so much on my plate. *sigh*

yeah, could be a hard one, gotta think of a good creature which isn't too hard to make. My math skills aren't the greatest, but i'm still gonna give it a go

If it needs to have purpose and user interactivity would it be enough to "follow the mouse" to achieve both?

If our body is a clock ticking away and if while we experience all that this world has to offer time has still continued to pass, are we living or just experiencing a slow death?
