    Purchase fonts for find look-a-likes?

I'm curious to know people's thoughts on fonts and font collections...

When you're developing a website, logo, poster, etc... do you go out and spend money on one particular font or do you go for the freebies?

Do you buy an entire font pacakge, from a place like Fonts.com?

I just find it hard to dump a large some of cash for a font collection or on one font that I'll probably use once.

I've heard of people buying CDs of hundreds of fonts that look like the real ones, but they're named differently and are slighty different.

How do people build up their font collection?

I buy fonts when the font is required. There are instances when nothing but a particular font will do. However with anything in design success is often equal to
your flexibility and time constraints. There may be several legally available freebie fonts similar to one that you may need. The question becomes how long and hard will you search for it. Sometimes close to a particular font may not be the answer.
sometimes it's a matter of re envisoning your site with a totally different font.
