Help-scan all pixels in a display picture?

Hi, I doing an interesting project for my school work. But i need some helps here..

Task:
A picture will be display on the main screen. I want flash to scan through all the pixels of the picture and list all the 'color no" (example: #00CCCC) that form the entire picture.

I really need some advise.. thanks alot..

There are ways to sample bitmaps via Flash 8; however I'll move this to the more appropriate Flash 8 Forum from the non-technical question (at all) Coffee Lounge.
