    Hi,
I have built a model in Autocad which exports 3ds, but seems swift3d does not like this paticular version. I had this happen once before and someone with 3ds was kind enough just to open my file with 3ds and resave it. This fixed everything.
    anyone help me out?
    thanks in advance mark

Post it up and We'll see what we can do...

AutoDESK's 3DS export is less than reliable. Put a link to it and we'll see if we can fix it for you.

As another thought, if it is a static picture, why not try exporting as DXF? Flash reads these files (usually...)

Hi its a model no animation, but I want to take it into swift3d and animate and render it there.

I posted a zip with both dxf and 3ds from autocad in it.
If the 3ds can be rescued it would be better as all the objects are seperated by color in that file.

    Download zip file here

    Thanks heaps

    Maybe one last favour,
if this doesnt work I wont bug you again
I created 2 more .3ds files in autocad 2000, swift doesnt like them of course.
I am hoping by changing some weld settings on the export from autocad these may have a lot less edges than the previous one you processed for me. (which works except swift cant handle the number of edges.
Would appreciate it if you could open and resave them in 3dsmax for me.

    file is at

    Thanks in advance,
wont pester you again, if this doesnt work I give up

    You can try these...

    http://www.benthelix.com/help/dv2fix2.zip

Went through the motions, but I'm not sure you'll like these either. The two you sent still end up with about 7000 edges. I fiddled around with optimizing one of them and got it down to 6400. But any lower than that and the model degrades. They might work, I just don't have the patience for Swift to process them.

Another thing you might try is selecting pieces of the the whole and exporting the flash like that. You should be able to do that with the files I posted.

Anyway, always glad to help. If you need anything else, drop me a line.
