    Name hundred of movieClips automatically?

    This is surely a pipedream, but is there a way to name multiple movieclips automatically? I have a zone map that contains 500 zones and I'm hoping I don't have to name them individually. The names would be sequential, "z001,z002,z003,etc..." The original file will be coming to me in Illustrator.

    You can access the name of a mc with _name I believe...
    I have no idea where this is going.

    As far as I know, I think you can only name them automatically if they are created dynamically.

    Yes just as elliot said, you can only do that when you dynamically create an object. And by that we mean either using duplicateMovieClip or attachMovie. I recommand using the attachMovie method.
