Thats obviously not real. I have seen those virtual keyboards, and I heard Sony Ericsson is working on a pen mobile which can project images on any wall or surface.

FK's Official Mac Hater
That type of keyboard has been available for a while now...mostly for PDA's. I also think that picture has been posted before but I can't find it.

I'm not that hard to imitate. Just make some random negative claim at Apple or anything else for that matter and then have nothing to back it up.

I got this image emailed to me... don't know if it's available in the market. Be nice if it was... make those pda and smartphones ten times more practical.

Steve Wozniak was demonstrating one on CNN not too long ago. I posted a link to the video somewhere around here.

.: Weirded Out :.
I think they'd work in any light condition - the keyboard may not show up too well, but it'd pick up your keypresses.
Why would you want to smack on a hard surface? I like the resistance - it let's you know you've made contact AND gives your joints a break.
The projector part of it is a good idea though, I'd be keen for that.

FK'n Elitist Super Mod
I've seen this about 6 months ago.....I still have the same question I had then: What happens when you hands get in the way of the projector.....won't it cause shadows and register wrong keys?
Not practical, and I can't see that it is even functional, unless it is projected onto a touchpad.....which kinda defeats the purpose.

still rather smack a hard surface than go through the pains of tying text on pda with a stylus... or a 3 x 2 inch keyboard.

The keyboard is real, but the projector is not. Maybe in a few years.

With how expensive replacement parts for today's projectors are, I'd hate to have to buy a replacement bulb for that one.

more than likely a LED to keep the price(s) down.

btw, that's the virtual keyboard that's been brought up here a couple of times at FK.
honestly? I don't know how I'd feel tapping on a non-tactile surface... like a desktop.

If the projector doesn't go as large as a typical LCD projector then it shouldn't be too expensive. Wal-Mart has a cheap little video projector this week for like $250. It only goes up to 60" and i'm sure it doesn't look that great at that size but at the same time, a bulb for a $250 projector wouldn't be that expensive. I'm guessing if this gadget were made it would only project a 20-30" picture.

The projector is what I was referring to. There are no powerful projectors that small that will show up decently on any surface in normal lighting conditions. Unless you like painting your walls a nice matte gray color

and heat. It will probably use a lot of power to produce enough light.
Tiny Projector
