wysiwyg editor suggestions
First a few things to note.
I started out on frontpage many many eons ago. If not for my frustration with frontpage I would have never learned to source code (at which I consider myself rather adapt but my needs require less time coding more time writing) I still have Frontpage on my laptop (as it came pre installed when purchased) I do 97% of my work on my desktop.
No I'm not interested in dreamweaver I don't need the extensions I'll never use.
I have Mozilla Composer on my desktop It's quirky at best and even the simplest things like copying a table or a span tag are always a fight.
It's like trying to dance in a body cast.
I have no problems paying for a good wysiwyg editor
What do you suggest and why?

are you serious?
If so I suggest textpad. Light weight and powerful macros.
For actionscript I really like SE|PY actionscript editor. (good for xml too)

I always liked Adobe GoLive (CyberStudio), but its been a little while since I have used a wysiwyg editor. I don't know what the future holds for GoLive now that Adobe own Dreamweaver as well - I guess its about to bite the dust, so perhaps you can get a cheep copy from somewhere...

Nvu - I used it while traveling earlier this year... and honestly, it's quite competent. I found it's code to actually be a little tighter than Dreamweaver. And it's free.

So is Notepad with my illegal key!
Serial: 49-414D414E-4944494F54
Put that in and hit "save" to unlock Notepad Turbo Edition.

It's what I see in my head and it's what I get 95% of the time when I type it into Notepad.
(5% reserved for Firefox compatibility issues)

Seriously. I've fooled around with the Frontpage that used to come with IE a long time ago and Dreamweaver, but always found it easier to launch NP and get going. I guess writing the source out gives me time to think about what I'm doing. I keep one notepad open with common things like a barebones Flash embed tag (no time to memorize the plugins address. ), and that's about it as far as a "toolkit" goes.

That's it, no more posting after midnight.
Do any of the apps mentioned have site management like dreamweaver. Its site wide find and replace and ftp sync is pretty important to me.

Haha . Actually, for XML, Microsoft's XML Notepad 2006 is pretty nice, but I still prefer Notepad. It's just a bit too cumbersome, but the formatting is nice, I guess...

I don't need another source code editor I've got plenty of those. and I'm quite good at source code thanks.
I don't need an ftp utility I've got that.
What I need is something which can quick copy paste tags to preserve css formating then type.
I haven't had a chance to review any of the above suggestions so please keep them coming.

I don't really understand that one. Sounds like somebody who's been using Frontpage too long... FrontPage extensions anyone?
DW8 does a fine job of handling your css code in tact so you can copy and paste. I realize everyone has their FTP utility du jour... FileZilla... whatever... and we still need those for certain circumstances. But doesn't the convenience of of publishing the current page you are working on to the server with a simple key combination mean anything? I can't imagine switching apps just to upload a page. In fact I can't imagine life without my site manager and .ste file backups.
