wouter vs. gerbick | four quick shots...

I've been feeling a bit creative. And I want to see some cool **** in the Arena. So that means it'll probably not be from me... so you better bring it.

    So I'll keep it simple.

    Two (2) rounds
    Two (2) days in-between rounds
848x518 canvas Don't ask, randomly picked out
    Rotation allowable
    No theme
Portion of prior image has to be recognizable and used
No use of the color purple
    Bigfoot for president
No rampant usage of filters Sorry, I have to request this one... I'm not a fan of 'em
    I'll even serve.
But not right now... I sorta need a participant first.

Wouter.. can't wait to see what you do with this.

If you guys want a list of the stocks, PM me. Three or more before the overlays and gradients.

<from the back of the crowd> ohhhhhhhhhhhhh s***! Wow, Wouter. Good luck.

What type of brush did you use to create the scratched look? I've tried several times in the past to create a scratched / aged look, but my lines are never as wispy. Is it just an overlaid texture?

    Thanks for the kind words...

For the scratches, take a piece of thick acrylic - for like overhead projectors - and go outside and scratch on white concrete with your hands spread somewhat out and just do it once on that surface. Then scan using a dark background - I used black piece of construction paper, you could still scan and then invert if you don't have dark piece of paper - and use Screen to block out the background. Duplicate, slightly blur the duplicate and lower the opacity a bit.

That's it. Twisting the hand instead of dragging it produces all kinds of weird things.

And if you mean the scratch vortex, that's something altogether different.

Cool. Thanks for the tip! I'll have to try that sometime. It's always neat to learn about all of the preproduction work that goes into it. It certainly adds a whole new appreciation to the piece. The results certainly attest the effort. Nice work, again.

Good stuff Gerbs. I love the texturing in this piece alot. I can't say that I am digging the entire image but that's a personal taste thing. Then again, I haven't thrown down in quite a bit so I have no room to talk.

Way to breath some life back into this place.

I've found that if you can find a full page glossy ad that is mostly black and crumple it up a few times you get a really cool relief where the ink cracked.

Great serve gerbick. I'll say kindly that it's not your best.
