HOW: force a Container (Accordion) to redraw

How do you force a Container to measure the contents of all of it's children so that if a currently unseen pane has text that needs to scroll, it will generate the scrollbar BEFORE it's viewed.

    PROBLEM:
I have an accordion that I'm creating with AS 3.0 and adding a VBox with a text field. But if the content of the text field forces the content to scroll, the content is drawn on the screen then the scrollbar instantiates and the field scrolls with no further flickering

I don't think you can do that. The scrollbar only reacts to the amount of text. If you create your own scrollbar you will find out, since you don't want a scrollbar present if there is no text to show.
