    frosted glass effect

Im looking to design a menu that sits on top of an image, for the back ground of the menu i would like to have a frosted glass effect. So it has to be transparent to some degree.

i just caunt seem to get the effect i want.

    i have tryed tutorial on
    http://www.entheosweb.com/photoshop/glass_effects.asp

but these are all applyed to the actualy image not on another layer.

Does anyone no where i can find what im looking for, either in flash or photoshop.
    cheers
    Aidan.

    Quickie you can try:

Create new document in PS and add some B+W noise, then blur it and save as jpg.
Then import to Flash, make it a graphic or MC and lower its opacity

Hay thats not actually too bad! can u change the colour of noise? i think the black might interfear a bit to much with any text that it is written over the top. adding more transparency doesnt seem to effect the black so much.. being darker un all!

but defo on the right track. Maybes a bit more work with this and i can get it looking how i want.

cheers! Any other ideas are welcome.

You can make your background white (or any color) before adding noise. You can play around with noise and blur to your likings. When you make it a bit transparent in Flash it will make any dark background lighter.
