Borders with bevelled edges and drop shadow...Photoshop tutorial
1.Open a photo of your choice and check the size…write it down to have it handy
2. Menu Bar - Open – New…in the new window fill in your image size and add some pixels to your height and width
Example: if your image size is 1000 x 679 you should fill in 1100x779
Background colour white is ok for now
3. Click Ok
4. Highlight or activate your image again …press Ctrl and A for select all and then Ctrl and C for copy
5. Go back to your new canvas (highlight it) and press Ctrl and V for paste…there is your image with a nice white border…close your photo you opened first
6. Now look at your Layer window and there you see your new canvas and your photo shown as Background and Layer 1
7. Double click the thumb of Layer1 in the Layer window and you will get a new window popping up named Layer Style
8. Mark the box of “Drop Shadow”…highlight “Drop Shadow” and play around with the sliders “Size” and “Distance” to select a position of your choice…there are more options to adjust the shadow…use the slider “Opacity”, “Spread” or “Noise” to alter it
9. To add a bevelled edge to your image mark the box of “Bevel and Emboss” and “Contour” in the same Layer Style window…highlight “Bevel and Emboss” to access the sliders to alter your bevelled edges
Play around with the sliders to get a result following your taste
10. If you want to change the colour of your canvas you should do it now
Highlight your Background in the Layer window and fill it with a colour of your choice…use the Paint Bucket Tool
11. Finally go to the Menu Bar – Layer – Flatten Image and save as JPG
Maybe someone here likes it
